MURANO CRYSTAL GLASS

The items in our ranges are not made from ordinary glass, but from Murano (Venetian) crystal glass. This antique formula for glass production, discovered in Murano around 1450, was jealously kept secret by the master glaziers of the island and only became known to the rest of Europe much later on. Now this traditional craft is renewed in the shapes of tableware and ornaments, designed by Carlo Moretti, taking inspiration from the most qualified international design tendencies.

The Murano crystal glass produced by the Carlo Moretti is extremely pure and transparent (refractive index 1,518 - density 2,53) and, with its brilliance and lightness, lends to the objects such a delicate sensation of pleasure to the touch; this is also thanks to our ability in making it with modern techniques of top craftsmanship in the clever hands of a new generation of master glaziers.
Even the slight defects that are visible are a sure sign of the craftsman’s work which, in order to preserve its particular quality has not been mechanized.
